Florida Gubernatorial Race Sees 20-Point Red Wave

I think it’s probably fair to say that the “red wave” we were promised ended up being a little. . . underwhelming. Shockingly, the likes of Dr. Oz and Herschel Walker didn’t inspire a lot of conservative voters. There was, however, one candidate who did—and he won by a veritable tidal wave.

Ron DeSantis absolutely demolished his opponent Charlie Crist by a full 20 points, to the surprise of. . . no one. Turns out, people in Florida are pretty happy with their freedom in the wake of COVID, parental rights, and lightning-fast hurricane relief. It also turns out that when you tell people not to vote for you, they. . . uh. . . don’t.

Hopefully DeSantis’s landslide victory—which included flipping historically blue counties like Hillsborough (Tampa) and Miami-Dade—is sending a message to other Republicans in the country. Their party doesn’t want reckless spending and grandstanding without action. Voters want fiscally responsible, America-first policies and the freedom to self-determine.

I doubt entrenched politicians will take DeSantis’s cue, but at least life in Florida is staying sunny.
