Troop Drawdown Coming In January

When Obama announced that his administration would be pulling troops back from Iraq in 2011 it was met with a sundry of emotions. Some civilians celebrated the “end of the war” while others asked if pulling troops out prematurely would leave us at a disadvantage upon our inevitable return. Three years after the drawdown ISIS had a gained substantial stronghold and we were forced to return. Five years after Obama pulled troops out of Iraq, we had upwards of 5,000 people on the ground there.

I am viewing the recent announcement of a drawdown in Iraq and Afghanistan with skeptical optimism. I am always a fan of our troops only being deployed where they are needed and able to make a difference. If the Afghan and Iraqi forces have gained enough resources and training to handle their own operations and defense, as some suggest they have, I’m all for it. At the same time, if the withdrawal puts any remaining troops in an unsafe situation, or leaves the door open for us to return to an unregulated disaster in a few years, I’m going to be pissed. Because of the lack of support President Trump receives from other politicians, it’s hard to determine a clear state of play. Perhaps only time will tell.

I refuse to link to CNN articles right now and give them more attention, but it absolutely tickles me that their article on the subject is titled US Announces Further Drawdown of Troops in Afghanistan and Iraq Before Biden Takes Office. We get it, you’re Biden butt-buddies. Put your Harry Styles big-girl panties on and take a breather. CNN lost its credibility a long time ago, but they’re really putting the nail in the coffin by displaying how little they seem to understand about the election process and by how far they’re willing to go to push their agenda.

This drawdown is kind of a big deal happening with our military, please do your job to cover it accurately. It’s no surprise that rumors of AT&T selling CNN are being whispered on the streets. And since it’s already been stated that the employees will stay, it would be poetic justice would be if Trump bought the company and became their boss. Tell me that wouldn’t make 2020 worth it.
