Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was admitted to the hospital Friday night for “flu-like symptoms.”
In a press release, the SCOTUS wrote,
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, last night after experiencing chills and fever earlier in the day. She was initially evaluated at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. before being transferred to Johns Hopkins Hospital for further evaluation and treatment of any possible infection. With intravenous antibiotics and fluids, her symptoms have abated and she expects to be released from the hospital as early as Sunday morning. Further updates will be made when available.
It’s hardly a surprise that the 86-year-old (who’s had a slew of health issues already) is frail and ailing. Supreme Court appointments are for life, but they don’t HAVE to be. I don’t think there’s any shame in resigning due to health, especially after spending a quarter of a century as a Supreme Court Justice.
Of course, if Ginsburg resigns, then Trump will be able to appoint another Justice, and liberals (RBG included) can’t abide. I was under the impression that the SCOTUS was meant to be apolitical, but I guess we’re past that now.
Best wishes to Justice Ginsburg. I hope she feels better soon.
