Baltimore Residents Are Over Al Sharpton

Erin Evans

A few weeks ago President Trump called Baltimore “dangerous, “filthy,” and “a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”  He also called out Representative Elijah Cummings, who represents the area.

The media immediately cried racism, because Representative Cummings is black, as is the majority of the population in his district.  That was absurd, because President Trump was talking about the state of the city itself, not the people who live there.

In fact, Baltimore residents were asked about Trump’s comments and – gasp! – agreed with the President.

Al Sharpton showed up in Baltimore this week, because you can’t claim racism without Ol’ Al jumping into the fray.  He spoke in favor of Representative Cummings – and got heckled by the locals.

I can’t stop watching this.

After decades of Democratic leadership, maybe the people of Baltimore are finally starting to realize that their leaders have failed them.  Maybe they’re starting to realize that race-baiters like Sharpton create headlines, but don’t actually create positive change in the community.  Is it too much to hope that the people might finally be opening their eyes and starting looking for new leadership?
