March 3, 2021Today, Gov. Andrew Cuomo held a press conference to respond to the recent sexual harassment allegations against him.
He announced that he will not be resigning.
He also sort of, kind of, quasi apologized for these women misunderstanding his jokes and being upset by them (not really an apology), but mostly he made excuses for why his behavior is no big deal.
He explained that “You can go find hundreds of pictures of me kissing people, men, women” because grabbing and kissing people is just his “usual and customary way of greeting.”
Yes, he literally said that.

He also made the unequivocal statement that he has “never touched anyone inappropriately.” So I guess he doesn’t count aggressively grabbing a young woman’s entire head and asking to kiss her as “touching someone inappropriately.”

Oh, and he made sure the public realized how difficult this is for him to have these women misunderstand his behavior. He explained that he “didn’t know” when he was being inappropriate with these women. He even tried to conjure up some tears that weren’t entirely believable.
The whole thing was packed with cringe.
Notably, Gov. Cuomo said,

Oh, really? Nothing? In your entire career? You’ve really never done anything of which you are ashamed?
Not even the roughly 15,000 elderly New Yorkers who are dead because of your imbecilic policy?
Still nothing?
Make no mistake. The sexual harassment allegations are tragic but pale in comparison with the massive scandal of thousands of unnecessarily dead New Yorkers.
Honestly, if I were Andrew Cuomo, I’d be glad that all the questions are about the sexual harassment allegations and that none of them are about the nursing home deaths.

That’s the real scandal.
But I guess it’s easier to apologize to three sexual harassment victims than to the families of his 15,000 negligent death victims.
When the media refers to “Andrew Cuomo’s victims,” they will 100 percent of the time be referring to the women he tried to flirt with and not the thousands of elderly who died alone in nursing homes because of him
