‘It’s Like Breathing In A Ziploc Bag’: LSU Football Players Show Exactly How Stupid And Ineffective the New Football Helmets Are

This all sounds quite unpleasant and… stupid. Wearing a mask that impedes one’s ability to effectively breathe while engaged in vigorous exercise is dumb and against CDC guidelines.

The CDC face mask guidelines provide a caveat under the Feasibility and Adaptions section.

People who are engaged in high intensity activities, like running, may not be able to wear a mask if it causes difficulty breathing. If unable to wear a mask, consider conducting the activity in a location with greater ventilation and air exchange (for instance, outdoors versus indoors) and where it is possible to maintain physical distance from others.

Another reason this is ridiculous and unnecessary is because players are taking a COVID-19 test every week. That is in addition to strict health monitoring.

Finally, these are young, healthy athletes. They are at extremely low risk for COVID-19 complications.

Let’s hope for the sake of these football players that common sense takes over soon.
