Fox News has been open to hosting town halls for candidates vying for the Democratic nomination. Bernie Sanders recently participated, and Fox News’ Chris Wallace is expected moderate an upcoming town hall with South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

One would think a candidate would emphatically accept an invitation, given the network’s monster ratings. However, Sen. Elizabeth Warren doesn’t care. Not only did she reject an invitation– she essentially spit in the network’s face for good measure.

“I love town halls. I’ve done more than 70 since January, and I’m glad to have a television audience be a part of them,” she tweeted. “Fox News has invited me to do a town hall, but I’m turning them down—here’s why…”

She then went on to describe Fox News as a “hate-for-profit racket” that “gives a megaphone to racists and conspiracists.”

“…it’s designed to turn us against each other, risking life and death consequences, to provide cover for the corruption that’s rotting our government and hollowing out our middle class.” she continued.

One has to wonder if she’s not up for it, because she knows it will likely involve more than softballs.
