Ok…so I KNOW that’s controversial, but I actually see his point.
My dad was a division 1 college football player. My brother played some football when he was younger. My dad has been very open about the fact that while my brother was very good, he wasn’t QUITE good enough or big enough to “make it” …and that unless there was a chance of that, he didn’t think it was worth the risks. It’s not that my father wasn’t encouraging. My dad is our BIGGEST fan. He just always encouraged us to hone in on our natural talents. You know, the ones that would “get us” somewhere.
What does he know?
Well… my dad, the former college football player, has a hard time getting up, let alone walking some days. His knees are COMPLETELY SHOT. He also suffered a number of concussions throughout his youth. So yeah… I think he knows what he’s talking about. You just have to be realistic about the risks.
