Extremely Sad News About ‘The World’s Ugliest Dog’

Hannah Bleau

Even though I have absolutely no emotional attachment to this dog, the news got me.

Zsa Zsa– the English bulldog who was wrongfully titled the “World’s Ugliest Dog” (I have an argument, which you can read here), has passed away. She was nine years old.

She was ugly, yes. But the UGLIEST in the world? Nah. Plus look! Her face was so smooshy here!

Her nails were painted pink! How did I not notice that before?!?!?

BTW, the story behind her name is precious.

Zsa Zsa was rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri when she was 5 years old and adopted a year later by Brainard, who saw the bulldog’s photo on the website PetFinder.com.

Brainard said she named the pooch after Hungarian actress Zsa Zsa Gabor because she liked to lie on the couch “like a beautiful model.”

I love that so hard. It’s true. Bulldogs love luxury.

PS– I can’t keep this in any longer. I recently bought an English bulldog puppy and will be taking him home in three weeks! I’ll obviously tweet out a picture of him when the time comes. SO EXCITED. I’m thinking of naming him Sullivan (Sully for short), but give me your suggestions! I’d love to hear them!
