Kellyanne’s Husband Trolls Trump Over Michael Cohen Office Raid

I would be SO FREAKING PISSED if I were Kellyanne.

What is WRONG with this dude?!

As I mentioned a while back, Kellyanne Conway’s husband is now basically a professional #Resistance Twitter Troll. He went from posting little to no tweets on his account, to firing off 200 in March alone, HALF of which were jibes at Trump in one way or another.

So yeah. The dude’s obsessed.

Fast forward to today…and George Conway is trolling Trump over the FBI search of his attorney Michael Cohen’s office.

According to Daily Mail:

The husband of a senior White House official trolled Donald Trump on Tuesday after the president reacted on Twitter to the FBI’s raid of his personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

‘Attorney-client privilege is dead!’ Trump tweeted.

George Conway, who is married to White House Senior Counselor Kellyanne Conway, responded on Twitter with a link to the Justice Department’s guidelines on serving search warrants on lawyers.

Mr. Conway didn’t offer any comment – just the link.

While many of us were SHOCKED that something like this would happen… apparently there are certain circumstances under which this would be allowed:

The DOJ’s rules, in place for decades, advise U.S. Attorneys that ‘[t]here are occasions when effective law enforcement may require the issuance of a search warrant for the premises of an attorney who is a subject of an investigation, and who also is or may be engaged in the practice of law on behalf of clients.’

‘[B]ecause of the possibility that, during such a search, the government may encounter material protected by a legitimate claim of privilege, it is important that close control be exercised over this type of search,’ it continues.

Federal prosecutors are cautioned to use the ‘least intrusive’ method of collecting evidence, including issuing subpoenas instead of serving no-knock warrants, unless that ‘could compromise the criminal investigation or prosecution, or could result in the obstruction or destruction of evidence.’

The guidelines warn prosecutors to consult with the Criminal Division of the Justice Department before moving forward.

And they direct them to make sure anything subject to attorney-client privilege goes through a ‘privilege team’ – commonly known as a ‘taint team’ – before they see it.

Taint teams, composed of government lawyers who aren’t part of whatever investigation resulted in a search, comb through seized documents to make sure prosecutors don’t see material that they’re not entitled to have.

Attorney-client privilege is normally inviolable, except for the ‘crime-fraud exception’ – which allows prosecutors to seize and use materials that indicate the use of a lawyer to advance a crime.

So I guess Mueller thought Micheal Cohen is helping Trump “advance a crime?”

Yeah… this is officially an all-out witch hunt.
