September 14, 2017The big news of the day is President Trump’s DACA “agreement” with Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer. Both sides say no official “deal” has been reached, but they’ve come to a mutual understanding on the situation. Trump swears he’s building the wall, and Pelosi and Schumer have vowed to fight against it.
So, is this much ado about nothing? It sounds like both sides agree something needs to be done about Dreamers. It’s a tricky situation, and there’s no easy answer. It’s perfectly OK to acknowledge that.
However, Trump supporters feel betrayed. Why is he working with Democrats? Why is he hosting working dinners for Pelosi and Schumer? Why is he caving on illegal immigration?
A Breitbart editor actually called it a “betrayal of the highest order.” Trump’s longtime supporters are upset. REALLY upset.

I don’t know what to think. On one hand, Republicans are spineless idiots who can’t get anything done. On the other hand, Pelosi and Schumer are immoral snakes. But Trump’s a dealmaker. I don’t know what we should do about DACA kids. I think there needs to be some flexibility for certain situations, but at the same time, I recognize that we don’t owe them anything. Democrats constantly act like every single Dreamer is some genius, upstanding citizen, and that’s not the case. There are some bad Dreamers too. Let’s be realistic here.
I’m 100% against illegal immigration and want our leaders to put Americans first. I agree that we need to reach some sort of reasonable agreement on this, but I don’t think we should just hand them citizenship and benefits. It’s not fair to the American people.
In reality, we don’t know the details of the “agreement” reached, so I’m going to wait to make a final judgment call. I need to see the details. Although I will say I’m skeptical. Anything that Pelosi or Schumer agree to cannot be good.
