Dear Climate Whiners: The Paris Agreement Was A Bad Deal

On Thursday, President Trump made it official. The United States is pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement. The reactions have been so over the top. Borderline insane, actually.

I will never stop laughing at Mr. Private Jet pretending to care about the environment. Hilarious.

Despite popular belief, the climate agreement doesn’t actually do anything except screw America over. Let’s not even debate about anthropogenic climate change for a minute. Let’s take that off the table. Even if it were true– that humans were 100% messing with the stability of the environment (you’d have to ignore a whole lot of science and general climate history to really believe that, but whatever)– the Paris agreement would do virtually nothing for the environment.

Anyone remember former Secretary of State John Kerry’s remarks?

“Even if every American citizen biked to work, carpooled to school, used only solar panels to power their homes, if we each planted a dozen trees, if we somehow eliminated all of our domestic greenhouse gas emissions, guess what? That still wouldn’t be enough to offset the carbon pollution coming from the rest of the world. If all the industrial nations went down to zero emissions it wouldn’t be enough, not when more than 65 percent of the world’s carbon pollution comes from the developing world,” he said in Paris.

Awkward. Climate experts Paul Knappenberger and Patrick Michaels confirmed his claim. Even if the U.S. bowed down and complied with all of the Obama-era regulations designed to reduce our carbon footprint, it’d reduce global warming by 0.018 degrees Celsius by 2100.

All that economic suffering for 0.018 degrees Celsius, IF that. Again, no one can REALLY know.

The unfair economic impact for such a small reward is just part of it. This nonsense also has the United States pledging to give billions of dollars to the “Green Climate Fund,” which is designed to “assist” developing countries in their quest to be green.

So when Trump said, “Beyond the severe energy restrictions inflicted by the Paris accord, it includes yet another scheme to redistribute wealth out of the United States through the so-called ‘green climate fund’ — nice name — which calls for developed countries to send $100 billion to developing countries,” he wasn’t exaggerating. Barack Obama pledged to fork over $3 billion to the fund by 2020.

And once again, even if EVERYONE complied, it really wouldn’t affect global temperature. (Some predict a reduction of 1.5 degrees C, but others estimate just a fraction of a percent. I guess you could say the science isn’t settled.)

So again. Even if you have no doubt in your mind about anthropogenic climate change, you have to admit that this was a bad deal. That’s one of the main reasons I voted for Trump. He knows a bad deal when he sees one.

Besides. What’s the worst that could happen?

Gotta love how the worst case scenario is DC under water. They have no idea how many people wish that prediction would come true.
