May 10, 2017Vice President Mike Pence arrived on Capitol Hill Wednesday morning and briefly spoke with reporters about President Trump’s decision to fire James Comey. He said President Trump showed “strong and decisive” leadership in making the final call and ultimately said it was the “right decision at the right time.”
Pence reiterated that President Trump made his decision based on the recommendations of those around him. He didn’t decide on a whim. The Trump administration truly believes Comey lost the confidence of the American people.
Pence also stressed that the decision had absolutely nothing to do with the Russian probe.
“There is no evidence of collusion between our campaign and any Russian officials,” Pence stated.
