Surprise! Obama’s Health Plan Is Completely Stupid.

I mean, let’s just call a spade a spade, shall we? 

So yesterday the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office came out with preliminary cost figures for Obama’s health plan.  And people, it ain’t pretty.  It’s expected to cost ONE TRILLION dollars over the next 10 years.  And the kicker?  It’s still going to leave millions uninsured. 

Congress, as we’ve mentioned before, has all sorts of fancy plans on how they’re going to come up with the one trillion dollars.  Some want to tax new stuff like soft drinks, some want a value-added tax, some want to tax employer-sponsored health plans, and some want to cut medicare/medicaid payments.  The CBO says that the plan that they got (put together by Senators and genius twins Dodd and Kennedy) will reduce the number of uninsured people by 16 million.  That would leave 36 million uninsured still.  So let’s just recap:  In order to cover a fraction of the currently uninsured, we’re going to cut benefits for the currently insured.  Got it.

And someone correct me on my math, because it’s not my strong suit, but ten trillion dollars to cover 16 million uninsured people equals $62,500 PER UNINSURED PERSON, correct? 

Brilliant.

This is all, of course, part of the big plan to have the government “compete” with  private insurers.  And by “compete” I of course mean “drive private insurers out of business.”   America’s Health Insurance Plans, The American Medical Association, and the US Chamber of Commerce are taking a stand against more government involvement.  But I mean – what do they know? 

Ultimately, we’re also looking at just more government bureaucracy and HIGHER costs, because the government is incapable of not wasting money.  It’s just what they do. 

Government waste + 10 trillion dollar cost + worse coverage for currently insured + new coverage for only 30% of the currently UNinsured = TOTALLY STUPID PLAN.  That much math I can do.
