NYT Writes Propaganda Puff Piece On Injured Stray Animals In Ukraine

Talk about blatant and tone deaf emotional manipulation. Major “news” organizations have really all done stories about animals in Ukraine. Now The New York Times, one of the premier “news” organizations in the world, wrote a puff piece about stray animals that are suffering in Ukrainian shelters. They specifically feature “Bonie the dog” in their tease on Twitter, briefly detailing how he “has a steel rod in his back after his spine was broken during shelling in Ukraine.” They explain that “Ukrainian shelters say they are struggling to find homes for rescued pets like Bonie.” The whole point of an article like this is to make you feel desperate to support Ukraine at all costs, just like the elite politicians intend to do with or without your support. But, of course, it would be easier with your support, so their media propagandists are working overtime to manufacture public support and consent.

Maybe it’s just me, but does performing spinal surgery on a stray animal with a broken back feel like a weird priority for a nation that is begging for 113+ billion American taxpayer dollars to fight a war? I get it, it’s terrible when innocent animals suffer. I hate it. I don’t think it should be happening. And that’s the whole point of this NYT article–to make you feel sad for them and therefore sympathetic and supportive of all efforts to support Ukraine. But hey, Ukraine, maybe don’t waste time, energy, and resources on a stray dog with a broken back who then can’t be rehomed because the country is at war? Tragic, absolutely. A priority right now? Probably not, as sad as that is.

And does a NYT emotionally-manipulative puff piece about a stray dog that got spinal surgery feel like a weird priority for a massive “free press” organization that could be holding world leaders’ feet to the fire about peace talks to end the conflict and prevent WW3? Maybe don’t waste time, energy, and resources on a meaningless propaganda story that only showcases misguided priorities as the world is on the brink of a global war? How about we focus on saving the people by ending this conflict through peace talks? Better yet, how about we save the people and the animals by ending this conflict through the very peace talks that The New York Times itself has admitted the Biden White House has “squelched?” How about that? Maybe a better use of everyone’s time, energy, and resources?
