Donald Trump Releases Video On Anti-China Trade Platform For Upcoming Presidential Campaign

Today, the official Trump War Room Twitter account released a 5 minute video of former president Donald J. Trump detailing his trade platform for his upcoming 2024 presidential campaign. The video is titled, “Pro-America trade to end our reliance on China.” He describes his agenda saying, “The heart of my vision is a sweeping pro-American overhaul of our tax and trade policy to move from the Biden system that punishes domestic producers and rewards outsourcers, to a system that rewards domestic production and taxes foreign companies and those who export American jobs.”

He proposes “a system of universal baseline tariffs” on most products, which would change based on devaluation of foreign currency. In the same vein, he proposes rewarding American producers with lower taxes, which he states would lead to increased domestic jobs. He announces a “new strategic national manufacturing initiative,” as well as a “4-year plan to phase out all Chinese imports of essential goods,” and the elimination of “federal contracts for any company that outsources to China.”
