The Double Standard Of Weaponizing Old Tweets, Yoel Roth Edition

As usual, it’s really about the double standard for me. And this one is a HUGE double standard. The Left routinely weaponizes old tweets, statements, emails, Facebook posts, etc. against conservatives or even just those who refuse to fall into line with their agenda. They use these old Tweets et al. to destroy people’s lives. They get people fired from jobs, blacklisted in industry, destroys brands, and so much more. Off the top of my head, I remember the actor from The Flash series who tweeted something ill-advised about women many years before. And when the tweet resurfaced, he was immediately kicked from the show. They would rather have ruined their show by losing a major actor than employ an actor who once, long ago, tweeted something that isn’t politically correct.

But when conservatives dig up old tweets, statements, emails, Facebook posts, etc. to establish a pattern of behavior by a particular person, then CNN calls it a “campaign of criticism” that sends people into hiding fearing for their lives. That’s apparently what’s going on with Twitter’s former head of Trust and Safety, Yoel Roth.

Mind you, Roth did NOTHING to bolster public trust or maintain safety during his tenure with the company, but alas, that was his job title. He was ultra partisan and ultra biased, and he was entirely complicit in the rampant political and social censorship that has shaped public discourse over the course of the last several years. Once the Twitter Files exposed his social crimes, screenshots of old tweets posted to his main Twitter account as well as old tweets posted to his separate non-official account were shared far and wide on social media. Most of them showed a pattern of blatantly inappropriate conduct, especially pertaining to children. We’re talking pedophilia-adjacent and child exploitation kind of posts. It served to establish a pattern of his personal beliefs and behaviors that likely influenced him in his capacity as Twitter’s Trust and Safety division.

Many people wondered why Twitter never worked very hard to eliminate child pornography and child exploitation material on Twitter, or shut down accounts and hashtags that were associated with them. It always seemed like that should have been a priority, and it never really was. Not only that, it seemed like it would have been a fairly simply thing for Twitter to target, and yet Twitter acted like it was just this untouchable monster that they couldn’t defeat. But the old tweets by Yoel Roth, the man who would have been in charge of leading the charge against child porn and exploitation on Twitter, clearly informed the public of why it never was a priority. It’s because Yoel Roth himself seems to support that kind of content. He didn’t work hard to get it off of Twitter because he apparently doesn’t mind it being on Twitter.

Elon Musk has very publicly called him out for his failure to address these issues, as well as acknowledging the old tweets that establish a pattern of behavior. And CNN has hilariously deemed it a “campaign of criticism” which they say has resulted in Roth apparently fleeing his home in fear for his life. Because it’s fine when old tweets are weaponized against conservatives to completely destroy their lives, but it’s a CNN-newsworthy headline issue when the old tweets reflect poorly on a darling of the Left like Roth.
