November 2, 2022I can’t deal with this planet anymore. Everything is racist, transphobic, ageist, or some other form of –ist or –phobic. Now, voter ID is supposedly transphobic.
Voter ID is already supposedly racist, which I don’t understand, at all. But I really don’t understand how “voter ID laws disproportionately impact trans people.” So I’m gonna need some help from you all to figure this one out. Maybe one of you can explain it to me.
How can requiring an ID to vote cause an issue for a trans person? Is it also transphobic to require an ID for driving? What about all the bars/clubs that require IDs to get into? Are they transphobic too? Just because the little plastic card doesn’t have your pronouns on it, does not inhibit you from casting a vote.
The argument is that transgender people don’t generally have IDs with the name they go by or the gender they claim to be. First of all, no one is keeping you from legally changing your name. Secondly, when I walk in to vote they don’t say “hey, what are your pronouns, what is your sexual orientation, and how do you identify? We need to make sure it matches with the name/gender on the card before you can vote.” So why would the name/gender you have on your ID cause an issue when you vote? It doesn’t. They literally just look you up in the system to ensure you can legally cast your vote and hand you your ballot. They don’t give a crap what name you go by, what your pronouns are, or which of the 7000 made up genders you are that day.
Also, can I just take a moment to acknowledge the fact that according to this person in the interview, only 31 of the 50 states actually require voter ID. That is incorrect. 35 states require voter ID. But that’s not my point. My point here is, why is this still not a requirement everywhere? You need an ID to drive a car, to get on an airplane, to rent an apartment, and do so many other random things. HOW is it still not required in all 50 states to vote?
The fact that people are even entertaining this as a thought is stupid, but the fact that this is being covered on the news is even more stupid. Everything is stupid.

If a trans person has an ID that isn’t reflective of their identity, that sounds like a THEM problem. It is THEIR responsibility to make sure their ID and voter registration are up-to-date.
MSM refusing to fact-check, or question their own people for outlandish stupidity means basic journalism kicked the bucket long ago. And they wonder why their ratings are at all-time lows.
*ist and *phobe are only used to shut down their opponents. They are only loosely correlated to the group in question.

It’s not going to kill you to use your legal name for this as you probably have to do it for so many other things anyways and licenses don’t have “gender marker” because gender and sex are separate things don’cha know. Good grief I’ve been arguing against this encroaching nonsense for 6+ years now and it only gets even more absurd and self contradictory.
What’s aggravating is all the people that argued with us. I remember those days when a few of us were shouting the warnings, back when there were a lot more people here.
