Are Twitter Employees Furiously Covering Their Tracks?

Y’all, this is truly incredibly to watch. Twitter is in full meltdown and coverup mode. It’s like a late-night corporate shredding party, but with algorithms.

Following the announcement of Elon Musk taking over Twitter, tens of thousands of previously suspended conservative accounts were restored, and many new conservative users created new accounts. The surge of followers for influential conservative news and commentary accounts was astounding. It was very telling about how many accounts were really being shut down and how Twitter was inhibiting follower growth for influential conservative accounts. We’re talking close to 100,000 accounts, so not small numbers. Tucker Carlson gained more than 60k and DJT Jr gained more than 80k in like, one day, with many others reporting follower increases of thousands or tens of thousands in the same timeframe. People were shocked at the massive surge, and it was very interesting to see the site flooded with accounts announcing that they’re back, and usually reposting the content that got them suspended in the first place.

Simultaneously, huge leftist influencer accounts, like the Obamas and various entertainment/social elites, saw huge and almost instantaneous drops in follower counts, likewise in the tens of thousands. These are some of the most followed accounts on Twitter, many of them surprisingly inactive, and they all of a sudden lose tens of thousands of followers overnight.

Twitter insists this is all “organic.” But I have a different hypothesis. I think Twitter employees are metaphorically shredding everything in sight before Elon comes in. I think they are quickly restoring suspended conservative accounts so that Elon doesn’t catch them with tens of thousands of inappropriately censored conservative accounts. And that means that all the previously suspended followers were once again included in the follower counts, thus the apparent surge in follower counts. Also, many of the conservatives who never bothered with leftist-controlled Twitter are now willing to make accounts, adding to the follower surge.

Simultaneously, employees are eliminating the fake following of leftist accounts that they wanted to help appear influential by artificially inflating the follower count and therefore the reach of their content.

People have long wondered at seemingly huge accounts that are either almost totally inactive or extremely active with incredibly low engagement. So while some of this drop in leftist followers may be from leftists leaving Twitter in protest (2022’s version of “I’m moving to Canada if Trump wins), I personally think that the artificial boost theory is more plausible.

As Jack Posobiec just said, “Elon didn’t just buy a platform. He bought evidence.” He bought evidence of overt politically-motivated censorship. He bought evidence of election manipulation. He bought evidence of scientific and public health information manipulation. He bought a whole lot of damning evidence, which is why Twitter is not only in full meltdown mode, but also in full coverup mode. I’m literally picturing crying libs in cubicles furiously “shredding” all the algorithms that they need to make disappear.
