I Don’t Think Bernie Sanders Should Be Able To Take Any Medicine Ever Again.

I totally forgot Bernie existed.  And then I saw THIS gem today:

Wow, these guys really don’t like to retire, do they?  Those D.C. perks are really good,I huh?

Anyway, I really want to punch that clip in the face.

One, he’s dead wrong.  I don’t hate the drug companies.  In fact, I worked at several of them before becoming a Chick on the Right, and I’m really proud of the work I did at said companies.  My husband also works at a drug company, and I’m very proud of the work he does.  To lump all of us together with a big broad stroke is a huge mistake, so I guess we’re not as united as he thinks we are.  Whoops.

Two, it’s almost as if Bernie has never taken an antibiotic or aspirin in his freaking life.  In fact, I dare him to NEVER TAKE ONE OF THOSE MEDICINES EVER AGAIN.  I double-dog dare him to never take ANY medicine again, if he despises drug companies so much.  Be like a vegan, Bernie.  Go without.  Go without heart medications if you need them.  Go without pain meds, anesthesia if you have surgery, go without any and every medicine that has ever been created by any and every drug company.  And don’t let your family take any of them, either.

Because if you don’t abstain and you take ANY medicine that was researched, developed, approved by the FDA and then distributed by a DRUG COMPANY, then you’re a damn hypocrite.  Or you’re Bernie Sanders.  But I repeat myself.

Honestly, I get sick and tired of the constant, stereotypical demonization of drug companies.  I really do.  Yes, there are money-hungry jackhats who work at some of them (especially over the past couple of years), but there are also wonderful scientists, doctors, researchers, project managers, writers, and many, many others who are at those companies because they want to help people and provide life-saving medicines.  There are money-hungry jackhats in EVERY SINGLE PROFESSION.  People in this country, especially, take their over-the-counter medications for granted. They take a lot of crap for granted.

The next time you complain about how greeeeeeeeeeedy drug companies are and how much every single, solitary person in this country HATES them, maybe you should stop and think about the last time a drug from one of those (AWFUL) drug companies saved one of your family member’s lives.  Or helped a family member with chronic pain. Or curbed an illness.  Or improved the quality of your life.

And then maybe STFU.  I’m talking to you, Bernie.
