Rochelle Walensky Must Resign. Enough Is Enough.

How much more credibility does the CDC need to lose before Rochelle Walensky is removed from her leadership post?  Holy crap, you guys.

I mean, it was already bad enough that they stealthily changed language development guidelines for kids even though NO ONE ELSE agrees with them on their stealth changes.  You can read about that right here. 

But now?  Now they’re just corrupt, unethical, lying-by-omission, FAILURES. According to the New York Times, the CDC is withholding “critical” data about boosters and hospitalizations.

Just let that sink in for a second.  The NEW YORK TIMES is reporting that.

For over a year now, CDC has been collecting data on hospitalizations for Covid, as you would expect them to. They’ve organized the data by various demographic categories, but for some reason, they’ve neglected to make much of that information public. The latest example? In a publication of data about the effectiveness of boosters in adults younger than 65 that they released a couple weeks ago, they somehow managed to LEAVE OUT 18-49 year olds.

That’s a pretty big omission, y’all. I mean WTF.

This is critical data and information that could be used to help health authorities make decisions. The CDC’s rationale for not releasing this data?  Welp, according to Kristen Nordlund, a CDC spokesperson, the data simply, “isn’t ready for prime time.” She also said that the CDC’s priority is to make sure data released is “accurate and actionable.” But here’s the real kicker. Nordlund also said that the withholding of data is because the CDC worries “the information might be misinterpreted.”

OMFG.

So basically, it sounds like information that doesn’t support the current POLITICAL NARRATIVE of the Faucis and Walenskys of the world isn’t being released.  I mean, if they released data that suggested 18-49 year olds get no benefit from the booster, then 18-49 year olds might not want the booster.  And that just wouldn’t do at all, now would it.

The performance of vaccines and boosters, particularly in younger adults, is among the most glaring omissions in data the C.D.C. has made public. Last year, the agency repeatedly came under fire for not tracking so-called breakthrough infections in vaccinated Americans, and focusing only on individuals who became ill enough to be hospitalized or die. The agency presented that information as risk comparisons with unvaccinated adults, rather than provide timely snapshots of hospitalized patients stratified by age, sex, race and vaccination status.

And then the real truth comes out. Emphasis mine.

But the C.D.C. has been routinely collecting information since the Covid vaccines were first rolled out last year, according to a federal official familiar with the effort. The agency has been reluctant to make those figures public, the official said, because they might be misinterpreted as the vaccines being ineffective. Ms. Nordlund confirmed that as one of the reasons. Another reason, she said, is that the data represents only 10 percent of the population of the United States. But the C.D.C. has relied on the same level of sampling to track influenza for years.

If you’re not outraged by this, you’re a damned fool.  Honestly.  This is absolutely unacceptable behavior on the part of the CDC.

And outside public health experts are pissed off too.

“We have been begging for that sort of granularity of data for two years,” said Jessica Malaty Rivera, an epidemiologist and part of the team that ran Covid Tracking Project, an independent effort that compiled data on the pandemic till March 2021. A detailed analysis, she said, “builds public trust, and it paints a much clearer picture of what’s actually going on.”

Here’s another expert who’s baffled by the CDC’s behavior:

“Tell the truth, present the data,” said Dr. Paul Offit, a vaccine expert and adviser to the Food and Drug Administration. “I have to believe that there is a way to explain these things so people can understand it.” Knowing which groups of people were being hospitalized in the United States, which other conditions those patients may have had and how vaccines changed the picture over time would have been invaluable, Dr. Offit said.

Here’s the thing. Walensky KNOWS her agency has a credibility problem right now.  Now is the time to be MORE transparent, MORE open.  She’s doing the exact opposite of what a sensible leader should do, and I cannot believe demands for her resignation aren’t being called for UNIVERSALLY.
