Norwegian Women’s Beach Handball Team Fined For Being Too Modest, P!nk Offers To Pay Fine For Them

The Norwegian women’s beach handball team has been fined, and it’s the most sexist and sexually objectifying thing ever.

They were too modest.

They literally were fined $1,766 but the handball sports federation because they were not wearing the revealing bikini bottoms that the federation requires for the women.

Mind you, them men’s teams are allowed to wear tank tops and shorts no longer than 4 inches above the knee.

The women’s team showed up wearing high to mid-thigh length spandex shorts as a protest against the required bikini bottoms. The International Handball Federation rules specify that they are expected to wear midriff-baring sports bra tops and bikini bottoms “with a close fit and cut on an upward angle toward the top of the leg,” with a maximum width of 10 centimeters, or about 4 inches, on the sides.

Norway’s beach handball side got fined for wearing shorts instead of bikini bottoms at the Euro 2021.

The European federation said that the resulting outcry “is based on disinformation on the procedure.”

Talk about sexism and the objectification and sexualization of women.

All for being too modest.

Now this is the kind of protest I can get behind. I was embarrassed by the USA women’s soccer team kneeling for the anthem and disgracing their own country that is arguably the most free and fair country in the world. But protesting the overt objectification and sexualization of women in sports through sexist and unnecessary rules?

That is gold, pun intended.

To make this story even better, music icon P!nk has offered to pay the fine for the Norwegian team.

In the face of understandable backlash, the federation president Michael Wiederer said he would try to change the rule about the women’s uniform. Time will tell how hard he actually tries.
