The latest accusation against Joe Biden is, in a nutshell, that Eva Murry (who’s now 26) was verbally sexually harassed by Joe Biden when she was 14. You can see a picture of Eva at the sourcelink. It has a caption that says it’s from March of this year, but holy crap she still looks fourteen to me.
The alleged incident took place at the First State Gridiron Dinner and Show in 2008 in Delaware. She told one friend and her sister what happened immediately afterwards, and then shared the story with four other friends a couple years later, finally going completely public this year.
Interesting sidenote: Murry is Christine O’Donnell’s niece. You remember Christine O’Donnell right?
O’Donnell was actually running AGAINST Biden when this alleged incident took place, and Murry was at the event ostensibly for school credit.
Murry recounted what happened in an interview from March of this year:
“I remember walking into the lobby and being in awe of all the people in such fancy clothes,” Murry said in an interview. “Our two parties of people gravitated towards each other and everyone started saying their hellos. When it was Biden and my aunt’s turn to say hello he quickly turned to me and asked how old I was. I replied with my age and he replied with the comment ‘Fourteen? You’re very well endowed for 14!’ I was confused but it was definitely weird, he looked me up and down and hovered his eyes on my chest so I had some clue [about] the notion of his comment but didn’t fully understand at the time. We quickly separated from his area after the encounter.”
Apparently, Murry attended a few more campaign events with O’Donnell and was uncomfortable anytime she had to be around Biden or knew he’d be at the same event.
“I feel his comments were verbal sexual harassment,” Murry told Law&Crime. “I think I was too naive to realize exactly what it meant at the time but I vividly remember the uncomfortable feeling I had in the pit of my stomach during the whole encounter. It wasn’t Biden’s words alone that made me so uncomfortable, it was the look, the tone, the whole general vibe was off.”
Murry insists that her motivation for bringing this story to light has nothing to do with politics. Rather, she was concerned that so many of her friends have been supporting Biden without knowing what “kind of a man Biden is.” She says, “No man or woman should get away with acting that way and that is what this boils down to.”
One of Murry’s friends, a Democrat, confirmed Murry’s position, saying, “I can’t stand Trump. This isn’t politically motivated. This is about men in power using their status to silence victims… I want the next president to be a Democrat more than anyone but I can’t overlook this. It’s not justice for 14-year-old Eva. It would be doing her a disservice.”
I don’t think, at this point, that there is any doubt about what a complete skeeve Joe Biden is. I mean, there are mountains of video evidence of this already. This story just adds verbal confirmation to what we’ve seen in these videos over and over again.
Until the Tara Reade story, I wanted to believe that Joe Biden was just one of those overly-friendly, inappropriately-touchy but HARMLESS dudes – similar to many others of his generation. I wanted to believe he was just super old-school, and embarrassingly hyper-touchy with girls. Kinda like this.
Granted, that touchy scene was grandma, not grandpa. But you get what I mean. The reason this scene even existed is because people like that EXIST. You may know folks of Joe Biden’s generation who are like that – I know I do. And I’ve always chalked it up to them being, well, that generation. I’ve been hugged a little too tightly and touched a little too aggressively by men of that generation who I absolutely adore and respect, and never thought they MEANT to be skeevy. I’ve always given them a pass BECAUSE I’ve never thought their intentions were anything other than purely innocent and purely genuinely warm.
But Tara Reade’s accusation made what I thought was harmless skeevery into something obviously much more sinister.
Murry probably isn’t the last woman who’ll be coming out of the woodwork this year. So I guess we all just need to be ready to buckle in for the ride.
