President Trump Donates 3rd Quarter Salary to Help Fight Opioid Crisis

Erin Evans

In an age where we see so many career politicians getting rich off of the backs of taxpayers, I’m grateful we have a president who is doing something different – donating his salary back to support the American people.

President Trump has donated his 3rd-quarter salary of $100,000 to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health.  The funds are earmarked to help fight the opioid crisis.

The president receives a salary of $400,000 a year plus an annual expense account of $50,000.  President Trump made a campaign promise that he would not accept a salary as president, and has kept that promise by donating his salary each quarter he has been in office – to date, over $1 million.

This is Trump’s third donation to public health agencies to help fight the opioid crisis.  Some of the other donations have gone towards veteran support programs, restoration projects at Antietam National Battlefield, and STEM-focused projects through the Department of Education.
