Beto is Coming for Your Guns

Long-shot presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke is coming for your guns.  He made a campaign stop in Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend, where he was asked about his position on “assault weapons.”

So, Beto was asked how he would reassure people their guns were safe… and he responded, “their guns aren’t safe.”  Not very reassuring, but I guess Beto isn’t interested in the votes of people who support Constitutional tenants like the right to bear arms.

Question: how can the government buy back something it never owned or sold in the first place?  Answer: they can’t.  Beto is talking about gun confiscation, which begs a second question:

That’ll definitely end well.

Real talk: I don’t want to live in a country were only the police, the government, and criminals have guns.  Despite the left’s claims to the contrary, there are myriad examples of a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a guy.  As a single female, I want the right – and indeed, the Constitution guarantees me the right – to bear arms to protect myself and my home.  #gunrightsarewomensrights

Also, one of the first things many evil dictators do is disarm the populace so that the people cannot fight back.  Look at Nazi Germany.  One reason the right to bear arms is so important is so the people can protect themselves, not just from individual assailants, but from the government itself.  The Founding Fathers, having just fought a war with England that stemmed from government overreach, clearly understood this.

The modern left does not.
