Mike Huckabee’s Message For President Trump Will Resonate With Every Dad Out There

This father’s day, I’m reflecting on the fact that any man can be a “father” …but it takes a good man to be a “dad.”

I love my dad so much more than I can express here. He somehow manages to be my rock and my teddy bear. Dads just do that, you know? It’s funny how the toughest dudes just turn to mush when it comes to their little girls. It’s a really, really special thing.

Which is why when I read Mike Huckabee’s message for President Trump, I thought about my own pop:

Sarah Sanders has given her whole heart to the role she’s filled for the past few years – and she’s gotten hell for it.

As a dad, I’m sure that must have been incredibly hard to watch. No dad takes kindly to his little girl being attacked. I can’t even IMAGINE how my pop would handle something like this. It would destroy him (and he’d be destroying a few people along the way, if you know what I mean. My dad’s a big dude, and he’s afraid of NO MAN, and NO ONE hurts his little girl on his watch.)

Anyway – reading this tweet really does bring something home for me: behind all of these “public figures” everyone feels so at ease attacking is a real person, a real family, and real love.

Maybe by remembering that, we might all be a little kinder, gentler, and better for it.
