I swear, y’all, Trump couldn’t buy a new ladle without half of Congress having a meltdown over it.
The most recent travesty that everyone is tearing their clothes over is the president’s intent to repaint the Air Force One plane with a more traditional red, white, and blue color scheme. Oh, the horror.
In response, Democrat Joe Courtney has attempted to pass legislation that would require congressional approval for aesthetic alteration spending. He cited the extra weight paint adds to a plane as justification. Did you see the plans, Joe? It’s hardly any more dangerous than the baby blue we’ve got now.
Rep. John Garamendi said,
“The Air Force One plane is iconic. It is known throughout the world. It has been the representation of the United States, the power of the president.”

Exactly. The power of the president. That includes the power to give it a makeover any time he pleases. And anyway, the new plans look way better and way more American.
That’s how you know how political this is– the proposed paint job is tasteful, well designed, and aesthetically in keeping with the office of the POTUS. If Trump wanted to paint the jet lime green with a portrait of Alf as Jabba the Hutt, yeah, maybe someone should put a stop to that. But as it is, the only reason anyone has any complaints is because it’s Trump proposing the change.
I hope he paints the White House next.
