Satanic Temple Attempts To Mock Christmas And The Christian Faith, And I Have Some Words For Them

Hannah Bleau

The world is trying to make a mockery of God again. What else is new?

The Chicago chapter of the Satanic Temple is incredibly proud of its latest dig at Christmas and the Christian community. It put up a “Snaketivity” display next to a Nativity scene and a Hanukkah menorah. The display shows a snake, hand and apple and reads, “Knowledge Is The Greatest Gift.”

Right. The entire act of disobeying God and bringing sin and destruction into the world and severing our relationship from God is awesome, because knowledge. Eve was right to disobey God.

That’s essentially what they’re getting at. They’re mocking us for believing that Jesus is the greatest gift.

I’d feel bad for these people, but I’m too disgusted right now. How can you be so prideful? (Makes sense. It was the original sin.)

The state has this note, explaining why the statue is allowed to be there.

“The State of Illinois is required by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution to allow temporary, public displays in the state capitol so long as these displays are not paid for by taxpayer dollars. Because the first floor of the Capitol Rotunda is a public place, state officials cannot legally censor the content of speech or displays. The United States Supreme Court has held that public officials may legally impose reasonable time, place and manner restrictions regarding displays and speeches, but no regulation can be based on the content of the speech.”

That’s fine and dandy and all, but I have to say it.

I will tell you right now. Without God’s active role in my life, I would be nothing. I constantly lean on Him and depend on Him. I don’t have it all figured out, but the Spirit teaches me. I know those people dismiss my faith as lofty “feelings,” and I pity them. My God is powerful. If we only realized how fortunate we are to have a direct relationship with God again because of Jesus. He IS the greatest gift. Because of Him, we can come straight to the Father, who is DELIGHTED in every detail of our lives. And I’m not one of those people who believes that it ends there. Jesus promised that we could live powerful lives, walking in HIS promises, on this physical Earth. Miracles. True joy. Abundant blessings. He gave us the tools. It’s up to us, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to use them.

I’m a work in progress, but I know that my God is GOOD, and my God is POWERFUL. So yeah. It hurts my heart when I see such disgusting displays of sheer mockery. It’s sad.

Remember, fellow Jesus peeps: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

I also love this.

“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” -2 Corinthians 10:5

A lot of Christians don’t walk in that reality, but if more of us did, the world could look like a very different place.

Jesus is the best Christmas gift ever. Don’t @ me.
