Jeff Sessions is no longer AG, but he’s not done in politics. At least, not yet.
According to this report from Politico, Sessions is considering launching a bid to get his old Senate seat back in 2020. This is “according to two people familiar with his thinking.”
Who knows what that really means.
After Sessions left the Senate in 2017, his vacated seat was won by Democrat Doug Jones in a special election upset. Jones is up for a full term in 2020, and he is widely viewed as the most vulnerable incumbent senator facing reelection given Alabama’s conservative tilt. Republicans are certain to contest the seat aggressively as they look to protect their majority.
Former Sen. Luther Strange is all about it.
Jeff Sessions for Senate in 2020! #alpolitics

I don’t know how successful his election campaign would be. Surely, all of the negativity has taken a toll on his reputation. Right? Do the people of Alabama still love him?
I have no idea.
