Snapchat Raises Eyebrows For Its “Antisemitic” New Name For This City…

I don’t have a Snapchat.

I miiiight be the only 20-something girl that doesn’t. But I tried it once, and I didn’t get the point- so I never looked back.

Apparently, there are a lot of new features since I gave it a shot 5 years ago… because I had NO IDEA Snapchat had maps.

They do. There are maps on Snapchat so that everyone can know where you are AT ALL TIMES, I guess. Which is how this happened:

Well, um… that’s awkward.

Someone either has a problem with the Jews in NYC… or really want to keep Farrakhan out.

Snapchat has now apologized and explained the mistake.

According to Fox News:

Snapchat has apologized for a major gaffe that labeled New York City “Jewtropolis” on Snap Maps, leading users to blast it as “racist.”

But the blunder – which is impacting the, iOS, Android, and desktop versions of the platform – still hasn’t been fixed.

WHY?

Don’t they pay people to fix crap like this? Surely it’s not THAT hard, is it?

Snapchat responded to the criticism on Twitter:

@pisceschrist Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Snap Map relies on third party mapping data which has unfortunately been subject to vandalism. We are working with our partner Mapbox to get this fixed immediately.

And provided a statement to The Sun:

“This defacement is deeply offensive and entirely contrary to our values, and we want to apologize to any members of our community who saw it. We are working with our partner Mapbox to fix this as quickly as possible,”

They’ve tweeted about it as well:
