It’s been quite the week with Kanye. And liberals have been melting DOWN over his tweets about Candace Owens. Apparently, he sat down with Hot 97’s host Ebro Darden, and he was just as irritated with Kanye’s tweets as every other lock-step liberal out there who believes he needs to stay put in the lanes and narratives that have been assigned to him, because of his melanin ratio and whatnot. You know.
Anywho, here’s the recap of the interview. It’s kinda painful to watch, but context…
“Kanye doesn’t appreciate the DANGER of the things he was tweeting (yesterday)…”
OMG, I can’t. It’s dangerous now for Kanye to say that he likes the way a conservative thinks. DANGEROUS OMG. The word “dangerous” is used a handful of times in this 15-minute video, actually, and it was my biggest takeaway.
Because it’s dumb.
Ebro believes that Kanye’s saying the things he’s saying because he has an album coming out. And that’s cool for him to believe that. It may even be true. In his half hour conversation with him, he had a few takeaways:
- Kanye wants to deprogram people.
- The only reason he likes this Candace lady is because she’s challenging conventional thought.
- “Nobody really showed love for me when I was addicted to opioids…”
- He feels like he’s been demonized, and as a society we demonize people for trying to think differently, when really they’re trying to make progress.
- “I just want to lead with love. I just want to love…”
- “I do love Donald Trump. I love Donald Trump..”
Ebro believes that Kanye’s a liar. He also believes that conservatives are terrible, (obviously), as do all the other people in the room, and the one chick in the crowd believes that Kanye is “co-signing hate” simply because he tweeted that he “likes the way Candace thinks.” Because Lord forbid he step outside that lane, y’all. Doing so is hateful. Or something.
What in the Actual Hell.
They all go on to talk about how Kanye’s selfish, materialistic, and troll-y (even though they loved him this time last week) and how he lives in a bubble. Which is funny, because we say that about EVERY SINGLE CELEBRITY pretty much EVERY SINGLE DAY out here in Chick-land. But I don’t recall these folks ever saying any of this bubble stuff about Jay-Z and Beyonce?
(crickets)
And listen – I don’t claim to know why Kanye is all of a sudden having some epiphany about Candace Owens. I don’t know if he’s having some internal struggle about his politics. He could very well be trying to sell records or trying to get attention. Whatever. But to say that this is “dangerous territory” is beyond laughable to me. Are liberals that afraid of conservatism? Are some black people that afraid of it?
Afraid of ideas like self-reliance and small government and freedom and the right to life?
For crying out loud, get a grip.
