Nosy Busybodies From The UN Declare That Repealing Obamacare Violates ‘International Law’

OH THANK GOODNESS we have our ineffectual overlords at the United Nations to dictate how America should write laws and govern our own private industries! Whatever would we DO without them?

(Probably have a lot more peace and quiet, to be honest.)

According to this, the UN has decided to take a break from picking on Israel and ignoring human atrocities committed in third-world hellholes to lecture the United States about how plans for repealing Obamacare actually violate international law. Because someone found a provision buried in the Geneva Conventions about the government providing health insurance or something (it was probably in the same hitherto unknown corner of the Constitution that proclaimed health care to be a God-given right) –

We’ve already seen that repealing Obamacare is politically perilous. Now there’s a new complication: It may also violate international law.

The United Nations has contacted the Trump administration as part of an investigation into whether repealing the Affordable Care Act without an adequate substitute for the millions who would lose health coverage would be a violation of several international conventions that bind the United States. It turns out that the notion that “health care is a right” is more than just a Democratic talking point.

A confidential, five-page “urgent appeal” from the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner on Human Rights in Geneva, sent to the Trump administration, cautions that the repeal of the Affordable Care Act could put the United States at odds with its international obligations. The Feb. 2 memo, which I obtained Tuesday, was sent to the State Department and expresses “serious concern” about the prospective loss of health coverage for almost 30 million people, which could violate “the right to social security of the people in the United States.”

By that token, implementing Obamacare should fall under the same argument. How many people lost their health care coverage because of this crappy law? Too many to count. But they apparently don’t count because to do so would make the Democrats look bad.

As I read this insane collection of mindless babble, I had the thought: Is this how Britain felt when the European Union told them they had to do stupid crap like only sell low-powered toasters or let floods of Muslim migrants into their country? I realize the UN doesn’t have the same power over us as the EU does over their member countries, but they sure seem to act like they do (or at least, wish they do). Imagine if the UN’s self-righteous lectures actually had weight over our government’s decisions.

Yeah, I’d vote to leave too.

Bottom Line: The UN needs to stop sticking their self-important noses in America’s personal business. Don’t they have a batsh*t North Korean dictator about to fly off the handle that needs dealing with?
