Animal Rights Nuts Storm The Fourth Quarter Of The Lions Thanksgiving Game

How was everyone’s Thanksgiving? Mine was a glorious day of family, feasting, and of course – football. I was joyously gifted with the Detroit Lions thrashing the Philadelphia Eagles (my dad and my brother are Lions fans and the team’s recent successes have been a long time coming).

While the Lions were running out the clock in the fourth quarter so Philly could return home in shame, a bunch of nutty protesters stormed the field with a sign and had to be escorted off. I didn’t see what the sign said at the time, but I looked it up later and, according to this, it was animal rights activists running out to bring awareness to the EEEEEEVILS of eating meat. On Thanksgiving. When most Americans watching the football game are in the process of either cooking or chowing down on a rather large dead bird.

A couple women just ran on the field with a banner that said “Animal Liberation Now.”

I have my doubts that the protests were specifically about Michael Vick (he of illegal dogfighting infamy), since the guy doesn’t even play for the Eagles anymore (he’s the backup quarterback for the Steelers). But what do you expect from attention-seeking liberals who do stupid-crazy stuff like sneak onto the field of a professional football game when the teams are trying to run a play? The game had to be stopped while security got the activists off the field. And it wasn’t like there were that many people still paying attention, since the Lions had won pretty handily by then and most everyone had left the stadium to get out ahead of traffic. So, as for getting their message out, this was a pretty big FAIL.
