These people have serious problems. I can't even deal with the stupid. In fact, I’m starting to wonder if Hillary Clinton is going add “free tampons for ALL” to her presidential platform.
Women are actually doing that– demanding free tampons. If you haven’t heard about it, you can catch up here, here and here. They really believe the government should do something about this, because gosh darn it! We didn’t CHOOSE to be born with functioning ladyparts! It’s not fair!
Ladies, doesn't all of this whining make you feel so empowered?
This woman feels empowered!

That’s Kiran Gandhi. (She was apparently a drummer for the singer, M.I.A. Yeah. I’ve never heard of her either.)
Anyway, Gandhi ran in the London Marathon in April and she happened to be menstruating during the event. (TMI I know, but it’s an essential part of this story.)
This is just weird and awkward and gross. There’s really no classy way to say it. Basically, she ran the entire race without a tampon/pad/anything in order to raise awareness for her “sisters who don't have access to tampons and sisters who, despite cramping and pain, hide it away and pretend like it doesn't exist."
Huh.
"I ran to say, it does exist, and we overcome it every day," she added.
Pretty sure you don’t need to raise awareness for menstruation. Trust us. Women are aware it exists, and men are probably EVEN MORE aware because they're the ones who have to deal with us.
From PEOPLE:
Gandhi tells PEOPLE that she decided to run without a tampon to highlight the sentiment of period-shaming and the language surrounding women's menstrual cycles. She wrote on her site that "on the marathon course, sexism can be beaten."
"If there's one way to transcend oppression, it's to run a marathon in whatever way you want," she wrote. "Where the stigma of a woman's period is irrelevant, and we can re-write the rules as we choose."
She was super proud after the race and posed for pictures with blood everywhere.

Empowerment.
