Pennsylvania had a rough election night. As if electing Fetterman wasn’t bad enough, they re-elected a dead guy. I’m not gonna lie to you, I was both embarrassed and amused by this.
BREAKING REPORT: Democrat Pennsylvania State Rep. Anthony DeLuca Wins Reelection Despite Being Dead..
— Chuck Callesto (@ChuckCallesto) November 9, 2022
YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP…
Anthony DeLuca, the longest serving state representative in Pennsylvania, sadly passed away on October 9th. When he passed, it was too late to remove him from the ballot. So naturally he was re-elected. But he didn’t just win, oh no, he won in a landslide! Dude got over 85% of the votes. Good job, Pennsylvania Democrats. Ya did good.
The Pennsylvania House Democrats took to Twitter to address the issue, and we got this gem:
While we're incredibly saddened by the loss of Representative Tony DeLuca, we are proud to see the voters to continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by re-electing him posthumously. A special election will follow soon. pic.twitter.com/CfLnSCuvK9

Everything about this tweet makes me laugh. They should be proud? Of what? Not knowing who they’re voting for? They were showing their confidence in him? More like the voters were uneducated and had no idea who was actually running. They just went ahead and voted for a random dude based off name recognition, or the letter next to his name. But my favorite part is the idea that the voters continued to, “show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by re-electing him posthumously.” I mean, it’s really spot on for Democrats. If you can vote posthumously, why can’t you win elections the same way? Really sticking with those classic Democrat values there, Pennsylvania. Seriously, way to go. Now they have to hold a special election to actually elect a real live person.
In the future, please know who you’re voting for. Don’t just vote for someone because they are the party you align with, or because they’re the incumbent. Do your research, folks.

This has been a Texas tradition for decades going back to the election that got LBJ elected to the Senate in 1948 and for many decades before that. An old political cartoon shows a Texas politician instructing a graveyard skeleton on how to vote. Another shows two skeletons
talking about who they will vote for this year. It’s funny till you realize this sort of thing still goes on here in Texas. And it’s also true that ALL the crooked politicians were Democrats.
Since so many Democrat voters are dead, I think it’s only fair that they get a candidate who is able to represent them.
Though as Mike points out below, this phenomenon isn’t restricted to the Dems. Everyone needs to stop just voting for the letters behind the names and do the research to figure which candidate will actually represent them well. Not that such research is easy, especially for local races.
And it’s also true that ALL the crooked politicians were Democrats.
That’s because until the 1960s, Texas was a one-party state. The electorate was divided between Conservative Democrats and Liberal Democrats. The Republican Party didn’t exist in Texas until long-shot John Tower got elected to the Senate in 1961.
Ironically, Republican Tower was elected to the Senate seat LBJ had to resign from after he became Vice President under JFK. Lyndon never got over that.
First, there were dead voters, now a dead candidate!? If you think that’s bizarre, there’s been instances of absentee ballots being sent to dead pets with human names, (i.e. we once had a dog named Troy). I hope that officials will do the right thing and hold a special election with a LIVING candidate.
This doesn’t surprise me as I’m fairly certain half the Democrat party in Congress are undead.
