United States Helps Mediate Ceasefire Between India and Pakistan

A ceasefire between two nuclear-armed countries? Give me ten of those, please and thank you.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been putting in work alongside Vice President Vance, and it looks like we may have some good news coming out of the India/Pakistan conflict.

Rubio wrote on X:

Over the past 48 hours, @VP Vance and I have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik.

I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site.

We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.

I love to see it.

The more wars we can avoid, the better as far as I’m concerned—especially given the fact that our country seems to get drug into everything. We’ve got enough conflict in the world without another war breaking out, especially when both countries got dem nukes.

Trump seems happy with the deal as well. The Daily Wire reports:

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” Trump posted to Truth Social. “Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Russia and Ukraine, you’re next—or at least I hope so.
