Libertarians Select Big Lib as Party Nominee

Despite Trump’s wooing and RFK Jr.’s best efforts, the Libertarian party has selected Chase Oliver as the party’s nominee for president. And well…the internet has some thoughts.

Mask and Vax mandates, open borders and letting men compete in womens sports.
Huh? Are these libertarian positions? pic.twitter.com/NRpBg3ztT3
And the mask on Chase Oliver’s face in this photo pairs quite well with this post of his from Thanksgiving 2020. pic.twitter.com/BlG0qshmPw

If the goal is to get -1% of the vote in November, this was a really great move.
But in all seriousness…what the what. Not only have I never heard of this man (and wish I hadn’t heard of him now), but he also seems like a complete pushover/dweeb/creep.
Oliver won the nomination after seven rounds of voting, clearing the required 50% threshold over his final opponent being “none of the above,” Fox News reported. Past social media posts from Oliver show that he opposes Republican legislation that stops boys from competing in girls’ sports. Oliver has also said that he supports an “open border” and has called to “abolish ICE.”
Very nice.
My guess is when crunch times comes, many Libertarian voters are going to do one of two things:
- Not vote
- Switch their support to Trump or RFK Jr.
For a true Libertarian, either of those options are more desirable than voting for some guy who thinks a drag queen reading to kids is comparable to “The Wiggles.”

Libertarian supports mandates?
Well we’ve definitely hit “up is down” territory.
“like”
Eight years ago I was on a Libertarian Party strategy call and asked a question- “What are Libertarians going to do to shake off the ‘pot head’ image and become a serious party?” This isn’t the answer.
