Pat Sajak Announces Retirement from Wheel of Fortune

It’s truly the end of an era, my friends.
Pat Sajak is retiring from Wheel of Fortune.
Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)

He has agreed to stay on as a consultant for three years after his retirement, which I assume means he’ll have some say in who his replacement is. This is good news for a lot of reasons; his successor will have some enormous shoes to fill and only the best will do.
I mean, has anyone had such a long tenure with 0 major scandals? Like, the worst thing he’s ever done is take a picture with Marjory Taylor Greene, and that’s like. . . not even anything. He’s cancel-proof, in no small part because he refuses to play that game. Also, his tweets are fire.
Hopefully they won’t pull a Jeopardy! and subject us to a billion guest hosts of varying capability. But, hopefully, they WILL pull a Jeopardy! and find someone as suitable to take over from Pat as Mayim Bialik has been for Trebek.
Man, I’m gonna miss Pat. I’m happy for him, but not for me or the millions of Americans who tune in every weeknight.

I suspect Aaron Rodgers will have time on his hands soon. Has anyone called him?
To paraphrase Ian Hunter, “all of the good ones are leaving”! Godspeed Mr. Sajak in your retirement and future endeavors.
