This is a huge pile of nonsense right here.
This morning I joined my colleagues in opposition to SB 147, which bans citizens from certain countries from owning property in Texas.

Here’s the Actual Language in the bill.
| Sec. 5.0051. PURCHASE OF OR ACQUISITION OF TITLE TO REAL | |
| PROPERTY BY CERTAIN FOREIGN INDIVIDUALS OR ENTITIES PROHIBITED. | |
| Notwithstanding any other law, the following may not purchase or | |
| otherwise acquire title to real property in this state: | |
| (1) a governmental entity of China, Iran, North Korea, | |
| or Russia; | |
| (2) a company or other entity that is: | |
| (A) headquartered in China, Iran, North Korea, or | |
| Russia; | |
| (B) directly or indirectly held or controlled by | |
| the government of China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia; or | |
| (C) owned by or the majority of stock or other | |
| ownership interest of which is held or controlled by individuals | |
| who are citizens of China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia; | |
| (3) a company or other entity that is owned by or the | |
| majority of stock or other ownership interest of which is held or | |
| controlled by a company or entity described by Subdivision (2); or | |
| (4) an individual who is a citizen of China, Iran, | |
| North Korea, or Russia. |
What that idiot in the Twitter post above WANTS you to believe is that an immigrant who comes to America to live the American dream and become a US citizen can’t buy property simply because he/she might be from China, Iran, North Korea, or Russia. That is patently false.
NO US CITIZEN will be prohibited from purchasing real estate in Texas. The only possible exception I can see, based on this wording, is a dual citizen of the US and one of those other countries. And honestly, if a US citizen isn’t willing to give up dual citizenship in an enemy country of the US, then I have no problem with them not being allowed to buy real estate.
But this is what Democrats do. They mischaracterize, fear-monger, and flat out LIE to people to pursue their own wacked out agendas. What POSSIBLE REASON would an America-loving citizen of this glorious country have to OJBECT to the terms stipulated in the bill above? There is WAY too much foreign ownership of US land as it is. American land should be owned by AMERICAN CITIZENS primarily, and if other countries’ citizens want to invest in real estate in the US, then I think it’s fine provided that they are citizens of countries who aren’t our ACTUAL ENEMIES.
This shouldn’t be a controversial position.
Other critics of this bill worry that it could hurt immigrants who are IN THE PROCESS of becoming citizens (which can be a long process). But Gov. Abbott defended the bill, saying, “We have a goal here, and that’s to prevent countries that are hostile to the interest of the United States from being able to buy up our farmland or other land that’s so important to us. It doesn’t effect at all people who are citizens or intend to be citizens of the United States.” The language in the bill above may be modified further to account for well-intentioned immigrants who are in process of becoming citizens.
Salman Bojani can suck it.

Honestly I can’t understand why you would want foreign powers to own land in the US particularly anything as vital as food supplying farm land. Even if they are our allies in the now, that doesn’t mean it will always be so. This doesn’t even account for the fact that more potential buyers also creates more competition thus driving up costs of said land. It’s like the goal is to destroy the country from within through their own idiocy.
