The crazies over at Just Stop Oil have been on a roll as of late, from throwing soup on paintings to demanding bowls in which to sh*t at car dealerships. But the protest of theirs that actually caused problems for people (other than their own dumb, gluey asses) was their disruption of the M25, a major highway around London. Because if there’s one universal truth, it’s that ruining people’s already arduous commute is a surefire way to win them over to your side.
Just Stop Oil officially halted these protests to “[give] time to those in government who are in touch with reality to consider their responsibilities.” (So if you didn’t think they were crazy already, observe: they believe there are people in government who are in touch with reality.)
Another plausible reason to press pause on this protest, however, is the fact that local police have arrested over 600 of them, and at this point they’re just running out of bodies. Essex Police specifically have most of the 17 activists they arrested in custody, and consequently they’re also running short on essentials: vegan meals.
“Many of the protestors are being held in jail whilst awaiting their first court appearance, leaving the force scrambling for £1 vegan ready meals.
‘The last couple of months we have come very close to running out of vegan ready meals,’ a police source said.”
OH, THE HUMANITY! Someone please tell me they at least have their sh*t bowls!!! My heart is literally breaking for these people and their (self-inflicted) hardships!!!
FALSE. I am Ling my freaking AO. Honestly I wouldn’t even have given them the option for a vegan meal. Cope and seethe, Just Stop Oil. Cope. And. Seethe.
That being said, police are confident that the mere reality of their detainment has had the intended effect:
“Essex Police chief Ben-Julian Harrington said the group’s climb down was partly because reality hit the activists when they realised they were being held in custody, not going home to ‘drink coffee or a pint at the end of the day’.
‘This is a serious offence with significant penalties. The danger and the disruption caused and their propensity to keep doing it means that people are being remanded in custody and I think that’s come as a shock,’ he said.”
In other words, welcome to reality, ya dunces.

YAY
I am truly amazed when I hear of a consequence to bad action actually happening. It should be happening on a much more regular basis. <<< The biggest understatement of the year.
Seems to be a simple solution. Cows and horses are vegan. You would think vegan ready meals are right outside the jail front door. Doesn’t the police station have a lawn with grass or grass clippings? How about trees with Leafs?
If the vegans don’t like it, next time they can commit their crimes in a greener part of the country, or better yet in another country.
The fact that these people are surprised that their actions have consequences really tells you everything you need to know about them (in case throwing soup at art wasn’t enough…).
Also tells you the pitiful state of law enforcement.
