Perhaps I SHOULD know who Jim Edmonds and Meghan King are. But I don’t. I know from this article, that Jim is a former pro baseball player, but I have zero percent interest in baseball. I know from the same article that Meghan King is his ex-wife and star of one of the Real Housewives series, but I have zero percent interest in the Real Housewives series.
Jim and Meghan do NOT get along. I have no idea what happened to end their marriage, and IDGAF. The only reason the article about their latest spat caught my attention is because there was mention of their son (4 year old Hart) having cerebral palsy and periventricular leukomalacia (PVL).
My eldest son, for those of you who don’t know, also has cerebral palsy, although his case is very severe – far more so than Jim and Meghan’s son, who apparently can walk and talk and understand and has some level of independence (as much as a four year old can have, anyway). But what I don’t often mention, as there’s really no reason to, is that my son was diagnosed while he was still in the NICU after being born 10 weeks early, with periventricular leukomalacia. A routine brain ultrasound was done, and what it showed was essentially widespread death of his brain’s white matter. It’s a completely devastating diagnosis, and in the majority of cases, this white matter damage leads to other diagnoses, most often cerebral palsy.
I tell you all of that simply to give you background, not for any kind of pity. It’s rare that I ever dwell on my son’s PVL, because it’s not the PVL that I think about when it comes to discussions about his care – it’s his cerebral palsy. That’s what affects his day to day life. PVL CAUSED his CP, in other words. And both were caused when he didn’t get oxygen to his brain during his completely botched birth (that’s a whole other story).
ANYWAY.
My point is that I have a personal connection to these terms and know them well. Which is why I CANNOT BELIEVE that this couple, Jim and Meghan, are apparently fighting over WHAT THEIR OWN SON’S DIAGNOSIS IS.
Look at this from the sourcelink.

Look. I don’t pretend to know which of these people is the “bad guy” in this divorce drama. But I do question Jim suggesting that his son has PVL and not CP. The two often go hand in hand, and PVL isn’t a disease or condition that gets worse or that gets treated or that even gets DISCUSSED in ongoing conversations with medical professionals. It’s simply the CAUSE of other disabilities that DO get discussed.
It seems a whole lot more plausible that Meghan is correctly describing her son’s condition, if you ask me. Now – does he have a point about her seeking attention? I have no idea. But the fact that she married a Biden for just two months last year clearly makes her judgment questionable too.
I don’t know why I feel the need to tell you this, except that it was a complete mindscrew to see the term periventricular leukomalacia in the news today. It kinda hurled me back into remembering some of the absolute worst days of my entire life, and I’m irritated with BOTH Jim and Meghan for that.

What a nightmare–especially for the children. He has a partial point, in that I don’t think the condition inherently causes fear; lots of children don’t like a flushing toilet, but those tiny people potties keep that from interfering from training. That child has other problems. I don’t know much about her–but a marriage that lasted two months? She’s running out of time for the end she wants. At least his money comes from a talent and hard work.
Not necessarily more brains than God gave chickens, but plenty of work.
I hate hearing about cases like this. Forget what you want, there are tinys present. Focus on the tiny.
This is a terrible thing for anyone having to go through and it must affect every aspect of the parents’, the kids’ and the family ‘s existence. All I can do is go home hug the kids and thank God the kids and the grandkids are healthy. While I know people that go through this do not have much choice but to deal with it the best they can, it must take incredible strength and courage every hour of every day. I admire the parents, and like the reactions of those parents who have lost children, I try not to judge how they or why they do what they do. I don’t know how I would handle it or even if I could.
I don’t even have words to describe how grossed out I am by our society today. Whenever I see someone described as an “influencer” I want to vomit. That’s her only qualification in life. But, unfortunately, people pay attention to her and give her a platform. She then chooses to use that platform to exploit her kids and create a toxic environment for them to grow up in. How awful. These are 2 useless people who are rich and apparently famous because the American public just can’t look away. They are the last people who should be breeding. It’s Idiocracy happening before our eyes.
