That was at Disneyland Paris. And apparently, the Disney dude didn’t think the guy proposing had permission to be on that platform, and so instead of waiting until – oh, I don’t know – THIRTY SECONDS LATER – he decided to snatch the freaking ring right out of the guy’s hands and shoo the couple off the platform.
It turns out, dude DID have permission to conduct his proposal on that platform, and the Disney employee was just being a power-hungry a-hole.
According to this, Disney has apologized to the couple, saying to Newsweek, “We regret how this was handled. We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right.”
But like – what does that even mean? Putting aside my own personal feelings about how over the top and unnecessarily elaborate proposals have become for a moment – it goes without saying that this couple’s moment – something that was being video recorded and photographed for posterity – was completely ruined by that Disney jackhat. It’s not a moment that can be recreated. It’s forever tarnished. How does Disney plan to “make it right” exactly?
They probably should offer to host the wedding. And they should force that idiot employee to work the event as part of the clean-up crew or something.
Discuss.
