Well. This is something you don’t see everyday.
According to the NEW YORK TIMES, new research shows that school closures during Covid, and the implementation of remote learning, created severe losses in learning for kids. Normal people who are rational and have Actual Brains have known that this would be the obvious outcome, but liberals are crazy and so here we are.
The kicker? Their policies harmed marginalized kids the worst. So, as usual, Democratic policies have once again done the EXACT OPPOSITE of what Democrats claim they’re most interested in – helping the working class and minorities.
WAY TO FREAKING GO, liberals.
Kids who were forced into remote learning for most of 2020 and 2021 lost about FIFTY PERCENT of what they should have learned in math alone. Don’t take it from me. Take it from the NEW YORK TIMES.
Quick reminder – kids are and have always been the least impacted by Covid. Conservatives actually paid attention to that science.
According to the sourcelink:
Low-income students, as well as Black and Latino students, fell further behind over the past two years, relative to students who are high-income, white or Asian. “This will probably be the largest increase in educational inequity in a generation,” Thomas Kane, an author of the Harvard study, told me.
So why did this happen? Simple. Democrats suck at pretty much everything. But let’s get specific about that.
Again, according to the NEW YORK TIMES, schools with a lot of poor students were more likely to go remote. Schools with a lot of poor kids tend to be in major cities which tend to be run by Democrats. Democrats tend to promote lockdowns and school closures. Schools with a large population of low-income kids tend to have highly active teachers unions and those unions, as you recall, were BIG into staying out of schools (but not so big on staying out of places they wanted to vacation).
This all resulted in a “regressive policy” which means that the inequality Democrats constantly claim to care about was WIDENED by their own dumbass Covid policies.
Again – all of this was completely predictable. Conservatives have been screaming about this since mid 2020. The NYT even points out that school administrators should have recognized that this was all going to happen by the fall of 2020, and acted much more quickly to get schools open. You know, like Gov Ron DeSantis did.
Here’s more from the NYT:
The Washington Post recently profiled a district in Colorado where schools reopened quickly, noting that no children were hospitalized and many thrived. “We wanted it to be as normal as possible,” Chris Taylor, the president of the school board, said.
Hundreds of other districts, especially in liberal communities, instead kept schools closed for a year or more. Officials said they were doing so to protect children and especially the most vulnerable children. The effect, however, was often the opposite.
This is what happens time and again with Democrat policies. They worsen the problems they claim to care about most. Will voters ever learn????
