U.S. Embassy In Afghanistan Warns Americans Not To Travel To Kabul Airport Due To “Security Threat”

The U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan has sent out a warning to Americans, telling them not to travel to the airport in Kabul because of “security threats”:

Because of security threats outside the gates of Kabul airport, we are advising U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to the airport and to avoid airport gates at this time unless you receive individual instructions from a U.S. government representative to do so.

U.S. citizens who are at the Abbey Gate, East Gate, or North Gate now should leave immediately.

Actions to take:

Be aware of your surroundings at all times, especially in large crowds.

Follow the instructions of local authorities including movement restrictions related to curfews.

Have a contingency plan for emergencies and review the Traveler’s Checklist.

Monitor local media for breaking events and adjust your plans based on new information.

Yesterday, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken finally gave the public an actual number of Americans who are still in Afghanistan. According to Blinken, 4,500 Americans have already been evacuated, leaving 1,500 that still need evacuation.

Blinken went on to say that the number of Americans wanting to leave is likely “significantly lower” than 1,500.

Pray for those in Afghanistan. The current administration has made mistakes at every turn, but they won’t be the ones paying for it.
