The US Border Patrol released footage of two young girls, a five-year-old and a three-year-old, being dropped and abandoned in the middle of the night in New Mexico. This border barrier reaches a 14-foot height.
Once the smugglers dropped the girls, they threw their presumed belongings over the border wall after them. Then, the smugglers fled the scene and left the girls to fend for themselves in the desert environment.
According to Fox News:
El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez said the little girls were left “miles from the nearest residence.” They were picked up by agents after they were spotted via surveillance technology.
“I’m appalled by the way these smugglers viciously dropped innocent children from a 14-foot border barrier last night. If not for the vigilance of our agents using mobile technology, these two tender-aged siblings would have been exposed to the harsh elements of desert environment for hours,” Chavez said.
Officials believe the two girls to be sisters.
“We are currently working with our law enforcement partners in Mexico and attempting to identify these ruthless human smugglers so as to hold them accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” she added.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) currently has more than 5,000 child migrants in custody, while Health and Human Services (HHS) has more than 11,000.
Law enforcement stated that no one was waiting for the girls on the other side of the border.
If you want to think that a majority of these people are trying to flee heinous living conditions in their own country in hopes to find refuge in ours, you better think about this sort of callous mistreatment of the innocent. Children are just being dumped like trash… not because of the orange man influence, either.
If any American citizen partook in this behavior, we would be charged with felony child endangerment, without question.
