“A Night Of Republican Women”

In his Thursday evening press conference, President Trump described the ongoing battles to combat what he called the “shenanigans” surrounding the counting of ballots. Although he was visibly tired after what has surely been several high-stress and low-sleep days, President Trump highlighted what has been called “a night of Republican women.”

This election set a new record for House of Representatives seats filled by Republican women. According to CNN projections, about a dozen non-incumbent women will ascend to the upper chamber of Congress, in addition to a number of incumbent women. While the Democrats will maintain a majority in the House, Republicans gained significantly more ground than the epically failed polls predicted, picking up at least seven seats, while there are still races yet to be called. In an interview, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said,

“We’ll likely have an additional 14-19 Republican women,” McCarthy said. “This will break the record for the most Republican women coming in at any one time — will double and will set a record for the most women ever in the Republican Party.”

Winning for Women Action Fund spokeswoman Olivia Perez-Cubas said,

“There’s no denying the energy we’re seeing around Republican women as a response to the 2018 midterms,” Perez-Cubas told the DCNF. “Many of the Democrat women elected last cycle were out of touch with their districts. Republican women stepped up to challenge them like never before and offered voters a real voice. As a result, Republican women across the country are making historic gains.”

As the rest of the races are called, we hope to see even more women added to this list. I, for one, am grateful to these courageous women for their sacrifice and dedication to creating a better nation for our posterity. As Gandhi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
