Imagine how many people’s lives would be saved if, when they had an interaction with police, they simply did what Damani did, instead of resisting arrest and creating unnecessary conflict?
In fact, just look at these stats:
According to the @WashingtonPost’s database, police fatally shot 999 people in 2019.
250 were black (25%)
14 of those were unarmed (1.4%)
Just 1 of those was not in some way attempting to evade or resist arrest (0.1%)
The facts are clear: people who comply do not get shot.

I’m sick of people who ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE (George Floyd, Jacob Blake) being martyred for absolutely no reason. They did not have to resist arrest. They did not have to use violence against the police officers who were doing their jobs. Their police interactions did not have to escalate to the point that they did. And who’s to blame? NOT THE COPS. Had they simply complied with the police directives, we wouldn’t have a country being torn apart by needlessly outraged people who haven’t bothered to look at the Actual Facts.
Damani is right. And everyone should hear his story.
