Democrat Rep. Eliot Engel Caught On Hot Mic At Press Conference: “If I Didn’t Have A Primary, I Wouldn’t Care”

A New York Democrat was caught on a hot mic saying, “If I didn’t have a primary, I wouldn’t care,” at an event addressing the social implications brought on by George Floyd’s homicide.

Representative Engel has been under fire for not spending enough time in his district, addressing the problems specific to his community. Residents have called out Rep. Engel for his absence during the pandemic, and now many are wondering why it took this long for him to speak out.

It is painful to watch and hear an elected official say that he wouldn’t care about the black man who was murdered in the street if he didn’t have a primary.

This is something we have become accustomed to seeing from the Democratic party. The second the Democratic party championed the abortion movement, they became the party of death. During the pandemic, they yelled from their ivory towers for us to stay in our homes to protect the seniors because they are the most vulnerable among us.

While we stayed home against our better judgment, they sent the infection directly into nursing homes. More deaths and infections came from Democrat states than Republican states with comparable populations. I don’t think it is a coincidence that as Democrat states have the worst coronavirus stats, they are also the only states that mandated nursing homes to take in patients who were still contagious.

The dignity of human life is low on the list of social causes, and Democrats are the highest offenders. The Democrats show they only care about power. That is the reason Rep. Engel was caught saying,”If I didn’t have a primary, I wouldn’t care,” on video and a hot mic. TWICE.

It was clear he was only there to accumulate political clout that could carry him through his highly contested primaries.

“The press conference Livestream appears to show Engel asking to speak at the event before telling a local official: “If I didn’t have a primary I wouldn’t care.”

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. asked Engel to repeat himself, and the congressman obliged. “If I didn’t have a primary I wouldn’t care,” Engel repeated.

“Don’t do that to me,” Diaz responded.”

“The moment was captured on a hot mic by a local television station and quickly went viral in a tweet that has nearly 1 million views as of Tuesday evening.

It comes as Engel has faced his toughest primary since being elected to Congress in 1988. He represents New York’s 16th Congressional District, which includes portions of the Bronx and Westchester as well as Mount Vernon, Yonkers and New Rochelle, which was one of the epicenters of the COVID-19 outbreak. Engel has faced growing criticism about his lack of presence in his district, particularly since the beginning of the pandemic, and now given the demonstrations and vandalism in his district.”

Rep. Engel responded to NBC saying:

“In the context of running for reelection, I thought it was important for people to know where I stand, that’s why I asked to speak,” he said. “Of course I care deeply about what’s happening in this country, that’s what I wanted to convey. I love the Bronx, grew up in the Bronx, and lived here all my life. I would not have tried to impose on the Borough President if I didn’t think it was important.”

I am inclined to believe the audio/video that recorded an unsuspecting representative over the crisis-approved message Rep. Engel was coached to say.

Politicians have silver tongues, and it is often hard to find the truth when they craft lies to sound like truths. This is just another example of Democrats showing their true colors when they think no one will ever know.
