You Need To Wear A Mask But Also Tip It When You Enter A Store So You Prove You’re Not A Criminal And Everything Is Just Getting Completely Stupid

I can’t with this crap. 

Remember how California was all, “HEY! Climate change is a thing so we need to stop using plastic bags and everyone needs to bring reusable totes to the grocery store so we can save the planet!” and then when we were hit with this pandemic they were like, “HEY! This pandemic is a thing so we need to stop using reusable totes at the grocery store and use plastic bags because they’re more hygenic!”

This is the level of crazy we’ve reached, y’all.  And according to the above sourcelink? Things just got even crazier.

You’ve heard that lots of counties all across the country are requiring people to wear face masks in public places, or else face penalties/fines.  Ostensibly, these are to prevent the spread of the Wuhan Flu, even though the various cloth masks that are being used don’t really prevent people from catching anything and only possibly minimally prevent people from spreading anything.  In other words, the bandanas and homemade t-shirt masks that are being widely distributed and sold on line are much more of a social statement than anything else.

But whatever.  They make people feel safer, and they give people who ARE wearing them a reason to get all judgey with people who AREN’T wearing them, and apparently there wasn’t enough judging of each other going around so the government decided to add another reason.  And y’all know what happens when government gets involved in stuff, right?

I’ll remind you.  They switch from plastic bags to reusable totes and then back again.  That’s what happens.

And now that Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has mandated that Illinois residents wear masks starting May 1, there are communities freaking out about what this means for safety.  One community in particular has launched a new initiative called “Tip Your Mask” in order to “help prevent confusion and racial biases.”

I’m not even making this up.  IL folks are now being asked that when they enter a store with their trusty face mask on, they tip it down and make eye contact with the shopkeeper so that their face can be seen.  This is somehow going to prevent all kinds of crime, because if a criminal walked in meaning to commit a crime, they totally wouldn’t tip their mask, which means now people have a new way to judge you.  If you wear a mask and don’t tip it?  OBVIOUSLY YOU ARE A CRIMINAL JUST WAITING TO POUNCE.

But remember, masks are for pandemic safety.  So as the sourcelink points out, if you use your hands to tip your mask, you should wash your hands or sanitize them as soon as you can.

Don’t you see how this all makes perfect logical sense?  Don’t you?

A pastor in IL who’s ALL ABOUT this whole Tip Your Mask initiative said it’s awesome because:

“Crime comes in all colors. You can’t just say that just because they’re a particular color, they’ll commit a crime. So it’s something all of us have to do. And It’s not just using old standards and ideas and we can’t have a peaceful society to do it that way.”

Another local reverend added:

“We really want to eliminate and dilute and stop any sort of confrontation. So if I tip my mask, then persons know I’m not out to do anything wrong. Because that’s the typical thing people think of with a mask.”

Our country is going completely batsh*t right before our very eyes, y’all.

There are simply not enough eyerolls.
