GOP Candidate Explains The Very Personal Reason The Second Amendment Is Important To Her

It drives me up a WALL when people say “You don’t need an AR/semi-auto/.45 or whatever to hunt deer!”

Yeah, ok… first off, the Second Amendment has NOTHING to do with hunting. I don’t hunt, nor do I care to. My guns aren’t about hunting, so PLEASE stop using whether or not my gun is enough “to kill a deer” as a barometer my “need” for it.

Lisa Song Sutton, GOP candidate for Nevada’s 4th Congressional District, recently explained the VERY personal reasons she is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.

According to Daily Wire:

During an interview with 8 News NOW’s Steve Sebelius, Sutton said that she grew up learning to be responsible with firearms because her father was in the military.

But she, like most of us,  probably never expected to ever find herself in a situation where she might have to use them. That situation did, in fact, happen:

“For me, especially as a woman, I understand the need for self-defense and I understand that a firearm is the quickest, most efficient way to equalize a dangerous situation,” Sutton said. “I’ve had 2 stalkers in my life, one of which broke into my townhouse … after you go through an experience like that you make a promise to yourself that you will never be a victim again. … If I’m ever attacked in my home again, they’re getting a .45 to the face.”

We’ve said it before – guns are truly a great equalizer for women. I’m 5’3, I’m not particularly strong. What, exactly, can I do to defend myself if a 6’3, 300-pound man comes barreling at me?

Now add a gun to the equation. It doesn’t MATTER that the guy is a foot taller than I am. I’ve got this.

“Women are one of the fastest-growing segments of the shooting sports business,” said Don Grier, owner of Prescott Gun Club. “Of the retailers surveyed over the last year or so, 70 percent have seen an increase in their business from women shooters.”
